September Chat

I feel like I am back in the 1980's! I purchased a new computer and am in the process of moving all my programs and files over to the new machine. It helps that both machines are on the same network but having to go to each item and physically change the path so that the item (graphic, file, or program) points to the correct point on the new computers hard drive is a major pain. When you add to that my having to learn how to use a new OS at the same time it is a wonder I am making any progress on anything else.

The 1980's were better in one respect, back then there were monthly mags with type in programs that helped people do stuff like this easily. This was possible because back then the OS was "bottom up" meaning that you started with the OS and then added to it. Today, with Windows 8.1 at least, the process is "top down" which means you start at the top of the OS and have to move down to locate where to put things.

I missed computers on 80's but did get to see pre-W95 age in 90's.
I did like Windows (3.1) back when it was a GUI and not actual OS.
And the way 386 booted DOS in 3 seconds instead of 30 like new PCs...

You know you are tired when:

You look at the coffee cup and don't feel like making the effort! emoticon

Tomorrow my wife gets back from a visit to her sisters. I wasn't able to mow the grass which is the one thing I wanted to get done while she was gone.

The weather is odd. When I have the time, it is raining yet when I don't have time the sky is clear! Sometime this week things will sync up (I hope). emoticon

I’ve decided to participate in the National Novel Writing Month challenge this year. You start in September, start logging your word count in November, and try to have a 50,000 word novel written by November 30th.

NaNo is pretty cool. I start a story when it rolls around, and if I hit 10k before the month is out, I figure the story will be a novel. :D

Oh, is it 10,000? I thought 50,000. Sorry! I should have refreshed my memory before I posted that. It is a flawed memory at the best of times. emoticon

No, the NaNo is 50k, but I never seem to get there in a 30 day period.

What I meant was if... I can get to 10k I feel like I have a story idea worth pursuing to completion. Even it takes more than 30 days or ends up being over 50k in length. emoticon
