Game #1 - Post game feedback

I know we need to create a specific "Pirate Rules" forum but prior to that I want to see if there are any specifics on the play of the game that you found odd or disconcerting so we can try and clarify things in our game rules forum.

Not odd or disconcerting but I do think that there should be a rule against staying in one place and making multiple guesses...you should have to move out of a location and move back again if you want to make another guess there.

Yes I agree. Players should have to move locations. Another interesting twist might be to make a rule you can't guess a card, once it has been shown by another player. Not married to that idea though.

I mostly agree with both Bec and Catcherlady on the points they have made.

Not guessing cards that have already been shown by players I think is a decent concept, but I see it as hard to be implemented for every player. I don't see every type of player meticulously tracking every card that has been revealed*, though I could imagine the three of us might. Speaking for myself, I did not take the time to track everything -- as I would have had it been a real murder emoticon I might be more likely too in the second beta though -- to increase my chance to win, of course. emoticon

* Then there is the method of reviewing the entire game topic to make sure the cards one is guessing have not previously been revealed. Wow! I attempted that at least a couple times.

You make a good point, I guess it might be best to let someone guess whatever they want, it's their turn to waste. :) I tried several ways to track things and finally came up with a good system at the end.

I have an idea... This goes to the movement/action options.

1. "Blockade" - 5 points. Use this to keep other players from moving into the area of your choice for one turn.

So if... you spend 5 points to block D6 then no player can move to or through D6 during the turn cycle.

2. "Pillage" - 5 points. Use this to restrict info a player might gain for one turn.

In this one you name the player you are "Pillaging" and that player can move but can not make a guess on who did it or what murder weapon was used. They can still guess on the location.

3. "Plunder" - 7 points. Use this to prevent a player from being able to guess about anything for one turn.

4. "Pilfer" - 3 points. Stops a player from making a guess about any one thing (your choice) for one turn.

5. "Escape" - 7 points. Prevents the "Plunder" option from working against you for one turn.

Hmmm...well, I did manage to keep track of everything that had been guessed so that wasn't a problem for me, so I wouldn't mind having a rule that you can't use a card that has been shown by another player. Would add another level of difficulty to the game.

As for the other options...they're good, could have potential to liven things up too.

Interesting ideas, Pastor Rick.

I think having a clickable "smiley" to represent each of these additional special actions would be very useful too.
