Sooo... anyone up for a test game?

GA is more complicated, so that I'd rather test 1-on-1 (though perhaps with two "characters" each).

For WWA I'd prefer at least two players besides myself, it's more a multiplayer game.

*cough* I have a bit of a lack of players here... emoticon

I'm bothered by WWA's "stab" feature, on one hand it's necessary, but on the other it changes the nature of the game pretty much. I'd rather make knife a fourth weapon, but when nobody plays with it there's still the potential standoff situation. I suppose I could add "surrender" rule for the case when you are in no-win situation against a shotgun player.

Also, following the pattern of GA's catapult, I'm tempted to add Gatling...

Edit: ...and there it is. My original idea with WWA was to make a simple version of GA for less experienced/interested players. But "keep it simple, stupid" has never been a rule I could follow.

I'm wondering if GA/WWA should have a blind attack on turn zero?
But that would be advantage for strongest weapons and ones hitting largest area, in GA axe and catapult, in WWA Gatling, rifle and shotgun.
In WWA, depends if you play from 5, 10 or more HPs.
For GA that might work, sword and spear seem to have advantage (1-on-1) over axe and catapult.

WWA knife: I'd like to make it so that you throw or stab depending if there's anyone to stab - to make it simpler with single attack - but that might make it too strong. Compensate by dropping damage? But that would kind of ruin the original idea of stabbing...

Since WWA has gotten almost as complicated as GA, I'm having idea for a third game. As GA/WWA is essentially mix of chess and battleship, the obvious simplification would be further move toward battleship.
My initial idea for Naval Arena is that players have a three-square ship that has three moves per turn. A move would be movement one square back or forth or turning between vertical and horizontal.
To keep it simple, I don't want to give the ship direction and so can't use battleship system of hitting each part of ship. Instead it would be like 2 points for middle hit, 1 for ends.
You would shoot battleship style, except that opponent only has at most 24 possible 1 point squares and 14 2 point squares.
But I'll need to think "bump" rules - or allow occupying same square(s).
Also I just noticed the movement makes it impossible to move to edges (or away from there if you start there). Maybe a "globe" system, moving 8 to 1 and H to A?
But that would make it even harder to hit, might need to make it a "plus" attack, 2 points center, 1 point next 4 squares (or eight?), perfect hit making 4 damage, end hit 3, scratch 1... Could work with suitable score to sink/win.

If... things go like I want I will want to try at least one of your games so we can see how it is played. My goal is to be in a position to play sometime on Sunday...

I'm soon getting ready rules of the third game Naval Arena (actually two sets of rules, simple and advanced). I'm hoping to keep the simple version of that so easy that I can get Bec and Catcher to play too...

I'm not sure if WWA works very well as two player game, GA may be better (though with certain race/weapon combinations there's a high risk of standoff situation). GA can be played with two (or even more) "characters" for each player, I don't think that would work on WWA or NA.

I'd like to try a 2 vs 2 GA game. When we play a two player game, we only need one topic. You post move, I post my move and result/board. (Being honor system on my part.)

You start a GA game 1 topic with your race/weapon and starting square choice(s) when ready and tell here are we playing simple 1-on-1 or with two characters each.

Here we go with first game of Naval Arena - because with Simple rules it's the easiest of the games (possibly, WWA with old rules might be even better).

Time to join in, everyone!

Rick, should you suddenly find lots of free time, I can well play another game simultaneously, like what I've been suggesting of GA...

...anybody? emoticon

NA (Simple) is pretty much Battleship with each player having a 3-square moving ship.

Game 1 still has zero players - one if you count me. I could do like in AG sports games when in need of players: make my mother play.
But anyway, 2+ volunteers needed, a turn/day or so game; I estimate the game to be about 10 turns long.

Ok K, I'll play the Naval game. It looks like the board game Battleship which I played all the time. Questions though, where do I create my thread and I assume when I do I have to create my game board with ships, correct? If so, does this thread get hidden from view of others?
