Player Turn Examples

This topic is going to have several "player turn" examples which I hope to post later today after I get a few "smiley card pics" in place to help in game play...

Re: Player Turn Examples

The first player always starts at Fort List (C1). If... this was my turn then the previous post says I have 13 action points to play with (0+9=9 plus 4 for the hours = 13).

So I use 3 action points to use the sea lanes and go to A6.
I have 10 action points left.

I use 2 action points to move from A6 to A1.
I have 8 action points left.

I use 3 action points to use the sea lanes to go from A1 to D7.
I have 5 action points left.

I use 5 action points to blockade A1 so no one else can use that sea lane until it is my turn to move again.

I have zero action points left.

I then make a suspect declaration like this:
---
 emoticon
I think Player A murdered the captain here (D7 where I stopped) with the Cutlass!
---
Player A is moved to D7 because that player is suspected of the crime.
---
Now the active players look at their cards to see if they can disprove my suspicion. If they can disprove my suspicion they post:
---
 emoticon
and say 1, 2 or 3 which tells me they claim to have 1, 2, or 3 cards that say Player A is innocent of my charges. No player has to tell the whole truth on this point. You can claim to have 1 card or 3 cards when you actually have only 2 cards in your hand.
---
You may not post and say the suspect is innocent unless you do have at least 1 card to prove it.
---
If... the accused is proven innocent of the murder by the method and at the place stated play proceeds to the next active player. Player A could still be guilty but not the way I claimed...

The first turn starts with movement since you have to be at the location where you make your "suspect challenge."

Your turn ends when you make the "suspect challenge."

When you make a "suspect challenge" the next player has to say if you might be right or wrong before they make their move.

That last part is important because if no one says anything then it isn't possible to solve the crime.

Just a thought.. is it possible to put the game cards on a clickable link somewhere? So if we want to look at them we can without having to jump around... not a big deal if you can't.

Sorry, didn't realize we had to make a guess every time. I've already asked this in the main game rules thread but...I think there needs to be a way to find out which of the cards you guess someone is holding (the way it's done in the board game Clue) so that you can tick that off your list and narrow down your options, otherwise the game could go on forever with no-one making the right guess.

Here is one idea: Each player could post one or more topics to their own private forum (mine is "Player Z"), where they will "jot down" the info that they glean from the other players as well as from their stash of cards.

For instance, I could post a topic called "Elimination of Suspects" in which I list my similar to what follows (just from the top of my head):

(for those cases where someone doesn't specifically tell what card they have??? -- I was thinking that this was the way we were playing, though it seems rather tricky starting out at least -- since, I am no super sleuth, yet...)

It was NOT One of these Combinations:
Player A, with Revolver, at C3 -- Justbec has the Revolver

Who Didn't Do It
A, B, D, T

Weapons NOT Used
Hook
Pistol
Rope
Shovel

Places Where It Did NOT Happen:
A1, A3,
B4, B6
C1, C4

I am just suggesting that this is a way we as players could try to track it, taking notes in secret and then editing our posts there to narrow down the guilty party.

EDIT: I am going to immediately begin my own...

I tried the cards themselves and they came out to small to identify what was what. I could tell if the card was a weapon, person, or location but that was because of the color of the cards.

Soooo... I went and found 3 pirate smilies, one for each type of card to help in the actual posting side.

weapon emoticon
player emoticon
location emoticon

With OldWarriors turn as an example: someone had the weapon so they could just click the emoticon smiley to show that he was wrong about the weapon instead of having to copy and paste the card image's url... Better?
